This is a series of four seminars delivering an in-depth look at key areas of taxes and recordkeeping for your small business. The instructor is Steve Metelits, a local, practicing accountant and active member of the N.C. Society of Enrolled Agents (IRS). The target audience is business owners or individuals considering a business startup. The format is set up so that each topic in the series can stand alone.

We will discuss the difference between a Sole Proprietor, Partnership and Corporation; the importance of record keeping; what you should keep and for how long. Participants will also get an overview of their tax responsibilities as a small business.

We will define the difference between an Independent Contractor and an Employee and explain what is required when hiring an independent contractor or an employee as it relates to federal taxes.
