Bert,
None of the Republican County Commissioners asked anyone in the legislature for the authority to name their own Board of Education representative. If you heard that from someone they were deceiving you either deliberately or out of ignorance. Or perhaps you made this up yourself?
The current members of the Chatham County Board of Education always have had the authority to name a new member to the board to replace Deb McManus who abandoned the last two years of her 4 year term leaving her district un-represented.
