Wednesday, May 8, 6:45 pm: An evening with Mildred Council, aka “Mama Dip.”

Mama Dip, the youngest of seven children, was born and raised in Chatham County. After a career spent cooking for local families, a fraternity, and the Carolina Coffee Shop, she opened her own restaurant in 1976. Since then she has written two cookbooks, Mama Dip’s Family Cookbook and Mama Dip’s Kitchen, and her Chapel Hill restaurant has become a destination eatery. Mama Dip will discuss her life and work and sign copies of her book. Free and open to the public. Chatham Community Library is located on the Pittsboro campus of Central Carolina Community College at 197 NC Highway 87 North. For more information, call the library at (919) 545-8084.
