On Saturday June 8,  we will hold the first county wide animal welfare conference.   The purpose of the summit is to bring together as many of the animal welfare groups and individuals in the county as possible to discuss strategies to reduce and ultimately eliminate animal suffering in Chatham County.  In addition to inviting non-profit groups and interested citizens,  members of the county health department advisory committee, animal control and others are being invited. However, it’s important to note that is not an official county sponsored event.

We will start promptly at 9:00am and end at 12:00pm at the Pittsboro Roadhouse. Bagels and Coffee will be provided.

I realize that 3 hours is not enough time to cover everything that needs to be discussed but my hope is that it will be the start of a process. Given the limited amount of time for this first summit, we are planning to limit the discussion to issues relating to cats and dogs.  If this format proves successful we can expand the scope in the future.

After our discussion we may find that we are already doing everything that can be done or we may be able to identify specific action steps to improve.. We are certain to get to know each other better and have a more complete understanding of the efforts that are on-going and planned.

I know there are groups or individuals who are not receiving this email that should. Please help me by passing along the information to anyone you feel should or would like to attend.

To help us plan accordingly, please RSVP to me at your earliest convenience.. If you are part of a group, please let me know how many plan to attend.

See you then,

Brian
