The season is approaching when parents begin planning summer activities for 2013.  One of the best gifts you can provide your child is an opportunity to explore the world through 4-H camping.  The mission of 4-H camping is to use natural and social environments to provide learning experiences that are appropriate for children and youth.  The 4-H camping adventure also provides young people an opportunity to develop skills they will use throughout their lifetime.  All of this great learning takes place in a safe and fun-filled setting with qualified and nurturing camp staff.  And no other organization does the camping experience better than 4-H.  Since 1929, 4-H camping has allowed youth to develop important skills through hands-on learning.

4-H camp is a great place to learn new skills such as canoeing, riflery, archery, swimming, and horseback riding. Your child will also have the opportunity to explore recreational activities, natural environments, and various science activities. And the best part about camp is that you don’t have to be a 4-H’er to attend.  So whether your son or daughter wants to learn to swim, learn more about wildlife, or just hang out with new friends,  4-H camping is just right for him or her.  With six residential camps located across North Carolina, from the mountains to the coast, you can pick the site that is just right for you.

Chatham County 4-H will be taking a group of Chatham County youth, ages 8-14, to Betsy Jeff Penn 4-H Center, July 21 – 26, 2013. The cost for this fun-filled adventure of 4-H camping is $350 per person per camp, which includes a $100 non-refundable deposit due upon registering to reserve your child’s spot on the bus.  Space is limited for these camps.

For more information about 4-H summer camp, specialty camps, or Cloverbud camp please contact the Chatham County Cooperative Extension at 919-542-8202 or by email at .  Information and registration forms can also be found on our website at http://chatham.ces.ncsu.edu or on our Facebook page under Chatham County Cooperative Extension.  Exploring the world through 4-H camping will offer many wonderful learning opportunities for your child.  Call today to find out more!
