Strange how people can form opinions from the simplest things – For example- From early October to April, my head is cold- I don’t know why- but if I wear a toboggan or a sweater cap, I feel a lot warmer and am less likely to get a cold.  Here’s the thing- a lot of folks figure I am bald on top and trying to hide it.  A surprising number of people actually ask me if I am Jewish. Seldom does anyone figure I am wearing a cap because my head is cold.

Others figure I was trying to hide gray hair- Well, I dyed my hair for over twelve years and some still thought that I was Jewish because I was wearing a  cap.  I will admit that I wore the cap pulled down more over my forehead during the transition  from dyed to natural- Then they thought I was probably balding at an alarming rate.  Keeping my head warm while working outside during cold days is a real problem for me. If I wear a coat with an attached hood, I find it very irritating to have the tension and pull from the coat part to the cap.  And if it has a drawstring, and I use that feature, it pushes and pulls on my glasses- so I take them off- Then I can’t see worth a hoot- And why should I need to see worth a hoot when a hoot is enjoyed by the ears- But quite frankly, normally if I am outside in cold weather, my ears seem to stuff up and I can’t tell where the hoot is coming from-

Now if I don’t wear a jacket with a hood attached, when out in the cold working, the breeze gets to my neck and fixes me real good for a week or so.  A  stiff wind, a stiff neck, followed and soothed by a stiff drink makes me kick back, close my eyes and dream of the days I will be out there and getting the back of my neck sunburned. My bountiful garden, my beautiful sunny  soul hugging garden . . where forth art thou . . .  ?
