The stately appearance of the building returns as the scaffold is taken down from the top of the cupola. The neo-classical base of the building with its formal bays, arches, columns and pediments contrasts with the ornate Victorian cupola. The weathervane has returned and the original green color is being applied to the trim. The remainder of the scaffold will screen the tower base until the finishing work is complete, which should be within the next few weeks.
The tower has been clad with wood and is in the process of being painted in the original green accent color pattern. This color was discovered during the pre-fire exterior restoration project and old photos helped determine its locations. This will provide a new ‘old’ appearance to the building and is an exciting change from the building’s pre-fire appearance.
