Subject: Commissioner Bock on the County Budget
Thanks to Commissioner Bock for explaining the county budget. A couple of thoughts:
— if teachers having to pay hundreds out of pocket to buy school supplies isn’t “dire straits,” what is? Wouldn’t a couple of tenths of a cent or a penny added to the budget more than have covered buying supplies?
— as for the new high school in the northeast, in my long experience delaying capital investment always costs more in the end. This is especially true when construction costs are low, as they are now, and bonds can be issued at relatively low interest rates.
