Read the bulletin board and Siler City is having both economic stress and vigorous efforts at revitalization.
The NC STEP program has allocated $100,000 to 14 very worthwhile programs now going into effect and Diana Hale is doing a bang up job coordinating. We meet at the Earl B. Fitts Community Center Thursday at 5:30 PM July 12th and all of you are welcome to come and participate.
On the down side, all but two of these projects revolve closely around the Arts Incubator and it has it’s own severe money issues. New projects are being developed and you may add your input.
I have the program at Rotary on Monday the 30th of July and have invited several Rotarians and invited Tom Glendenning, Randall Rigsbee from the Chatham News, and Sammy Slade from the Plugging Leaks project and will ask Chuck Stires from the Retirement program to join us for a conversation. Hope Diane will come back: she was our program Monday 9th.
Revitalization requires synergy. We feed off one another’s energy and need to support each other in trying to rebuild. Healthy competition recognizes this, and I ask all of us to stay positive and be on the lookout for even little ways we each can help. Let me know if you would like also to be part of the conversation at Rotary on Monday the 30th and you may be my guest for lunch – we meet at noon at the West Chatham Senior Center in Siler City.
