The Tick-borne Infections Council of North Carolina’s home base is right here in Chatham County. Please visit our website for helpful information. www.tic-nc.org on tick identification, prevention of bites and infections, and tick control. Look under the Resources tab for: *The Tick Encounter Resource Center*. Check out that link. It is full of useful information. Also, look towards the end of our most recent newsletters (under the Publications tab) for information about getting clothing treated with Insect Shield. Wearing treated clothing is really helpful. Be aware no method is completely fool-proof.
Please join TIC-NC. It is free and you can join online. We do love donations but none are required. You can check out our goals on our home page. Ticks have already started biting so be careful. (Actually, they never quit this year. We had a number of reports of bites and at least one person sick from the winter season.)
