Subject: Looking for some good news?
Hello! My name is Scott Miller. I’ve been a resident of Pittsboro and a fan of the Chatlist for about three years. I’d like to let everyone know about a new project I’ve been working on, a website called 18Horses.org (http://www.18Horses.org).
Every day, all around the world, people are setting aside their differences and working together to accomplish great things. We don’t always hear about it. Don’t you think we should? That is what 18Horses.org is all about. It’s a site that celebrates cooperation and compromise, sharing stories of people who are finding creative and effective ways to overcome problems.
One of our debut articles has a very Chatham-centric theme. “Simple Gifts, Simple Goals,” tells how a group of north Chatham churches from several different denominations are working together to benefit our community. In the process of doing so, they are also helping international nonprofit organizations serve people in need around the globe.
There are two important things I’ve learned about Chatham County. One is that we have a very diverse population representing a wide range of social, cultural, and political backgrounds. The other is that we have a very strong sense of community. I’m sure there are a lot of great stories to be told about people in our area who have found unique ways of working together, for their own benefit as well as the common good. If you know about any stories like this I would love to hear about them.
