Subject: I want to be fair , I need advice
I want everyone’s advice . Some of you remember my junkyard dog , the 97 Jimmy I had that was wrecked with no doors we used here to move things around with . It had 124 K , didn’t smoke , use oil or make any noises so I kept it in good running condition even though it was wrecked for 2 years .
The original owners spent $1200 on it the year it was wrecked and it was in mint condition until it was rolled over damaging the roof but leaving the drivetrain in perfect condition . I needed to buy Christmas so I reluctantly decided to part it out for Christmas money . We drove it the day I removed the engine and transmission . It ran perfect . I sold it and it was installed in a vehicle that had already burned up 2 engines with the last one only lasting 1000 miles . It was driven 10 miles and they discovered it was 4 quarts over full with contaminated oil . It smoked badly and they supposedly changed the oil again and it no longer smokes blue or black but white . He wants his money back . It was perfect when it came out and even his mechanic said it ran like a new engine , what do I do ?
I want to be fair but he wouldn’t even bring it back for me to look at it while it was running in the vehicle so I could see for myself what was wrong . He wants to pull it out and make me buy it back and I cant . Mama went by ambulance Christmas day and I have been in bed with the flue on and off since . I would have never sold the engine in the first place if I didn’t need to buy Christmas for the kids . I have a number of people that saw how well it ran . It was my spare for my blazer I drive every day with 257 K on it . I was a mechanic for 20 plus years and I have built many engines , it makes no logical sense unless its a fuel , or emissions problem with his vehicle . I really do want to be fair , but I honestly do not know how to handle this . I know my engine was a solid good running very clean engine when it left . Help !!
Goodnight Mark
