Subject: Another favorite local treasure 🙂
I must admit I am like many who fall into a big box store like Lowes or Wal Mart when I need something but with gas so high and money so tight I try to find what I need closer to home. I have in the past shared my fondness for JR Moore and Son , Farmers Alliance and our local Southern States Store.
I wanted to take a moment and voice my opinion on another local treasure I rediscovered after a number of years . I’m like everyone else when I need something I run to the most likely place to find it. In many cases we have all been conditioned by big box stores to run to them because they have so much stuff in such large quantities at cheap prices. I have found that the quality of the stuff has declined in some of these box stores over the last few years and I hate to waste money on stuff that don’t last .
Simple questions , Where do you go to find a sealing ring for your pressure cooker ? Where do you go to find good quality tools for around the home like a rake with a real hickory handle or a hickory handle for your axe ? What if you want stove black and wood stove pipe that’s twice as thick as what you buy in a box store that actually last more than two winters without being replaced ? Have you ever cooked with a quality cast iron frying pan ? Its awesome !! Since its close to Christmas , how about some nice decorations at 60% off !! Where do you go to find all of these things in one place ? I can answer that question . Go to Ace Hardware in Siler City and just wander around the store .
It may not be the biggest or cheapest store but you will find the shelves packed with quality items you need most around the home and many unique off the wall things that most places no longer think necessary to keep in stock . The prices are reasonable the staff is friendly and if they don’t have it , they can help you find it. Its a fascinating place to visit and wander around to see just how much stuff can be packed on shelves . Its cozy and close by and I wanted to let everyone know its one of my favorite places to spend my money . I have been there several times lately and it reminds me of the way stores used to be when I was growing up , focused on quality and customer service not selling useless junk but things we really needed for the home .
Goodnite Mark 🙂
