Subject: Atheist meditates murdering Betty Black?

Since my post about the children’s school being blocked in downtown Pittsboro, I have received personal emails – I present for you, the pick of the crop. I withhold the name of the author, but present this classic blurb in it’s entirety:

“BEER PARLOR?  Aren’t they called BARS?  Maybe TAVERN would be a better word than PARLOR, taverns have been around since the dawn of civilization practically, and people haven’t always drank water!  Beer or ale used to be what everyone drank, including children, at meals or to cool off on a hot day.  No, I am not telling anyone to feed their child beer, but The City Tap is an organization that benefits society, they provide a venue for musicians, they sell delicious wares, and keep people like me from killing people like you outright, by providing me with a place I can go to relax and unwind.  I don’t exactly understand why Mr. Cote is so severely gung-ho about blocking the school.  Honestly, I’m amazed at the stupidity of all of this, for one thing, the hours are not concurrent, Tap is open at NIGHT, and School is open during the DAY.  I am a mother myself, and love the idea of a school, but agree with the traffic concerns in that area.

However, comparing 150 cars daily to an onslaught of say, 75 cars twice daily within a fifteen-minute time frame is quite a different thing.   And if the City Tap was in that location first, then the school shouldn’t build within 50 feet of them.  It is incredibly pathetic how you conservative Christians try to make such a HUGE deal out of EVERY LITTLE THING!!!”

You just gotta know deep thought went into that bullet. I was especially enlightened to learn that people originally did not drink water. “and (on which day?) God said “Let there be beer”?

It is interesting that you folks would zero in on my term “Beer Parlor”-  and not the real issue as outlined –  Beer Parlors  do exist. But my idea of a beer parlor compared to a beer joint is that a Beer Parlor has cleaner glasses than a beer joint and generally a permit to sell booze.
.. .
As far as the argument that there will be a traffic nightmare, consider this: At one time, there was a supermarket in that vacant building-  A bank beside that. Across the street, US Post office, a drug store and a coin laundry. Also cars were larger- Please present proof that there was ever, ever a traffic jam in that one short block.

And dear beer drinking Mother who considers murder- I will say a little conservative Christian prayer for you. A very tiny, little bitty, bitty one . . . Perhaps she needs a bottle in front of her, instead of a frontal lobotomy. And you use the word Pathetic? What is really pathetic is a mother  feeling the need to “unwind” sitting in a bar guzzling beer and contemplating murder.

P.S. Any of you thinking I am reading your mean comments to and about me in any other format- forget it. I don’t read the Chatham Journal, Chatham on Line, etc. I only read the Chatham Chatlist. Those rags wouldn’t exist if threads from the Chatlist weren’t transferred there.
