Subject: Artist’s Opening Reception at Liquidambar Gallery
I want to invite everyone to join us at the opening reception for Rita Spina and Michael Thompson. It is on Sunday, September 4th from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Liquidambar Gallery and Gifts. 80 Hillsboro Street, Downtown Pittsboro.
Rita Spina is a mixed media artist. She uses natural material and combines it with man-made materials to give the pieces a re-birth into tactile works of art. She will be exhibiting a special piece that is made from a collection of found objects that came from the Chatham County Courthouse after it burned.
Michael Thompson’s experience of being a Forester has made him grow to love wood on a deeper level. He now uses a multitude of species of trees to create turned vessels, letting the wood dictate the form and allowing the natural beauty to come out.
Both are Chatham County artists and have been on the Chatham studio tour.
We will also have live Native American music performed by John Kincheloe.
This is a free event and open to the public.
