Trentt,

Unfortunately, now that Townsend closed Pittsboro, and will close Siler City as well as a plant out west, the county is the largest employer.  Employment figures from CC do not count the school system, as I remember.  So hang on to your tax dollars as long as you can.  You know where they are going next.

And if you get a chance to whisper in the governor’s or David Price’s ear, let her know that we would like an unloading dock permitted for Omtron so that it can bring the grain over to feed the chickens, to sell the meat, to pay the workers, to pay the taxes, and let us get back to living again rather than dusting off our tents to set up our “primary dwelling spaces.”

I don’t see any grain farmers here complaining about $ 8/bushel corn.  Must be the Midwest grain farmer’s lobby protecting its sales in NC trying to stop the unloading dock.  If they want to do that, then send them the bill for unemployment costs to our citizens (or to the responsible parties.)  And while you’re at it, include the bill for increased cost of beef and pork at the grocery stores – + 60%.

The legislative mandate to support ethanol, has got to end.  Nothing wrong with this fuel, but the effects on food prices and production are disastrous for all US citizens. Being “green,” in this case has cost too much and is an un”sustainable” idea.  Food and jobs over riding green cars.  Basics, not frills.
