I would like for “Burgermeister” (or maybe “Senor Alcalde”) Voller to read Joe Kingley’s post and tell us what parts of it (if any) he disagrees with.
Joe Kingley comments (seriously, not jokingly) on assuring that people who vote are actually entitled to do so, and that voters are expected to get out of their chairs and go to some specific place to vote, even if it may be a little inconvenient. When I voted in my first presidential election in 1952 (I voted for Eisenhower, of course) we all had to go to a specific place on a specific date. Now, voting has been made much easier with fewer controls and restrictions, which was done largely to make it easier for people of a certain party to vote at least once. We are frequently assured by members of that party that “very few fraudulent votes have been reported”.
Sure! Because it’s hard to detect them. Some years ago, I was talking politics with a small group in a barber shop, which included a former President of the UNC system. I recall that he said “My grand-dad was from Wilkes County. He voted Republican until the day he died, and from then on he voted Democrat”.
