Subject: “Fracking” (Hydraulic Fracturing)- Risky Natural Gas Drilling
I wanted to spread more information about Hydraulic Fracturing, the method of drilling for natural gas commonly referred to as ‘fracking’. There is talk of fracking becoming legal in Chatham County, with a recent posting discussing how some have already sold rights to companies to drill on their land (as of Aug. 2010 it was ilegal- Chatham Journal
article http://www.chathamjournal.com/weekly/news/local/natural-gas-deposits-under-chatham-100819.shtml I haven’t been able to find current legal decisions on the issue).
Fracking poses serious environmental and health threats through both potential contamination of underground aquifers directly resulting from the drilling and aboveground waterways through disposal of wastewater resulting from the drilling process. To keep this post short, here are some informative links.

This is so scary. Read http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,2062331,00.html. What can be done to prevent fracking happening in NC? We cannot run the risk of poisoning our water sources. This needs to be stopped before it is too late!
