Subject: drilling and energy efficiency
Recently I heard that a geological team was in Chatham county talking up natural gas drilling. Here is a link to a video residents might want to watch before considering selling rights to drill for natural gas, which can have long term effects on everyone’s water and health issues that could cost a lot down the road.

If it doesn’t click to the video through the chatlist, you can go to you tube and type in “water faucet on fire” to search for it.
While I am disappointed the county commissioners are lowering the energy efficiency standards for county buildings not to have to be Leed certified (pardon any misspelling), as reported on the news a couple of weeks ago, I am hopeful we can support alternative energy as a way to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels. I am concerned, however, that the natural gas issue, with fracturing being such an unhealthy drilling process, will impact our groundwater and quality of life if it comes to pass–and any financial benefits some may realize will be offset by the costs to health for us all and for future generations.
