Subject: 26th NC Regiment at Gettysburg — The Chatham County Connection
If you are interested in Chatham history, plan to attend the Chatham County Historical Association’s upcoming program. The association is pleased to have Dennis Brooks discuss “The 26th NC Regiment at Gettysburg — The Chatham County Connection,” on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at 2pm in the Multipurpose room, Building 2, of the Pittsboro
Campus of Central Carolina Community College. The public is invited to the free program which will follow a brief annual meeting.
Dennis Brooks, a Chatham native, has for many years been a member of CCHA, a re-enactor with the 26th North Carolina Troops, and a member of the Colonel John Lane Society. Dennis is a local historian who has done extensive research on the involvement of Chatham County troops in the Civil War. His presentation on the North Carolina troops at Gettysburg, highlighting numerous Chatham County family connections, will broaden our knowledge and understanding of the nationâs history at that time and will illustrate the important role played by Chathamites.
Visitors are welcome to join us for light refreshments and visiting after the program.
As 2011 begins the Civil War Sesquicentennial Anniversary, this program is first in a series for CCHA. Watch for future programs on “Chatham Life on the Home Front” on May 22 with guest speaker Ms. LeRae Umfleet and “The Emancipation Proclamation and its Celebration in Chatham County” later in the year.
