MAKE YOUR OWN MEDICINE 🙂

Creating an Herbal Home Apothecary with Kim Calhoun

at AbunDance Healing Arts Sanctuary
in collaboration with Abundance Foundation
SATRUDAY, MARCH 26th
10am-2pm

Empower your self healthcare and save money by learning how to create
safe and effective herbal remedies from plants that grow locally. Join
community herbalist Kim Calhoun as we make yummy anti-viral elderberry
syrup and potent anti-bacterial echinacea tincture*, two valuable
allies for your family’s prevention and treatment of cold, flus, sore
throats and more.

We’ll gather at AbunDance Healing Arts Sanctuary where participants
will be inspired by Kim’s extensive home apothecary as well as a brief
walk around the yarden to gather wild greens to garnish and fortify
our lunch. Participants will experience several methods of tincture
making, including working with dried and fresh plants, leaves,
flowers, and roots.

Go home with an ounce of elderberry syrup (please bring a small jar
with lid), recipes, resource list, and the know-how to get started
making your own plant medicine!

Class size is limited to 12 people age 14 and older. Pre-registration
and payment required.  $35 registration, $45 for registration plus a
delicious sandwich from The Chatham Marketplace. Registration goes up
to $40 March 19th. Register with the Abundance Foundation: http://theabundancefoundation.org/diy-2011/herbal-apothecary
..  For more information on Kim’s services: www.AbunDanceHealingArts.com.

*Tinctures are concentrated liquid extracts of herbs and are taken by
the dropperful, usually diluted in a small amount of water or juice.
Various solvents are used to extract the plant medicine, usually a
combination of alcohol and water, although vegetable glycerin or apple
cider vinegar may also be used.
