Subject: Chatham Schools Central Office personnel gone wild?

*I just have to get this off my chest and I don’t know who to tell. I am already appalled to hear that numerous county office employees make 6 figure salaries (and no one knows what they do all day).
It really makes me upset when one of these employees comes into our k-8 school, where employees are worried sick about their jobs and their school, and stands in front of several teachers and assistants to say “I don’t care if they make me an assistant or a janitor next year…I’M gonna have a job and they ain’t gonna cut MY pay!”
This is the kind of treatment we get from the county office.*
On February 3, 2011 Chatham County Schools Superintendent Robert L. Logan issued a memorandum to all Chatham County Schools personnel outlining the proposed school system reorganization.
In it he noted that –
*It has come to my attention through emails and personal conversations that some staff members have made some highly charged, derogatory remarks about students at other schools. Please be reminded, as employees of the school system, we are to remain professional at all times and do what we have been charged to do, educate the students in our school district. Making derogatory comments, or belittling students, a school, or colleague is considered unprofessional. For when derogatory remarks are made about another school, a negative perception is cast upon the children and staff, and community that the school serves. It is my expectation that such behavior be suspended immediately. As professional educators, we serve as role models for our students and are held to a higher standard than most.*
This Central Office employee is NOT even worthy of being a janitor.
Maybe Mr. Logan should be paying more attention to the problems in his own central office, instead of causing havoc in the rural schools in this county?
