There is a growing number of parents who are asking some really well thought out questions with one being ( Why are we even considering redistricting in the first place ? ) I’m not sure after a weeks worth of research I can answer that with a logical answer as its not by any stretch of the imagination a logical move at this time or possibly ever in this county . I have been in contact with many very unhappy parents and teachers over the last week .

So far in the poll a 72% majority are against redistricting .   The discussion  made it to offices on Wilmington Street here in Raleigh before I ever arrived with my questions and information passed on to me by concerned parents . Fear is that Chatham County will be the next school system in the media with a serious conflict of parents and school board over redistricting

..  I want to emphasize one simple truth , Chatham County Schools have always had a history of giving children the same level of education in a positive learning environment no matter what school a child attends .  We do not have a diversity issue because all children have the same opportunity to learn in an environment where a status of rich or poor does not apply .  I applaud the teachers and principals for this not the system they are employed under ..

I firmly believe in our schools but I do not have the same optimism towards the system that exist to operate them . I encourage any parent or teacher to take this opportunity to speak up before its too late and we have a catastrophic mess to clean up at the expense of our children’s education ..
