Subject: End the Epidemic of Irresponsibility
Dear Adults of Chatham County,
Would you leave your baby in the backyard overnight? Would you let your toddler roam the forests and roads of Chatham County and just expect (s)he will find their way home safely? Would you send your young child out the door and close it behind them, giving them no direction, no supplies and no supervision whatsoever?
Would you actually be surprised when they don’t come back? Would you honestly be panicked and appalled when precious Lily or Michael doesn’t return to your doorstep in a time frame you think is appropriate? Would you seriously be vexed if they don’t come a’ runnin’ when you holler their names from your back porch?
Would you plop your large, lazy rear down at your computer and inform the rest of Chatham County how it is their responsibility to be responsible for your irresponsibility? And at no point in your diatribe or your tearful description of your missing child would you admit that you are a NEGLIGENT PARENT? And (futhermore) THE REASON your child is missing?
Domestication is the process by which an animal becomes largely dependent upon a human being for survival. If you own a dog, you’re not the parent of a teenager that comes and goes as they please and might even be gone every weekend. You’re the parent of a young child who, without constant supervision, will get lost, potentially injured and possibly dead.
How bout ya’ll stop losing your bloody dogs?
Sick Of Reading About Your Negligence,
Sarah Shook
