Monday Brian Bock, one of three challengers seeking election to the County Board of Commissioners, asked readers to check out the candidates’ platforms. We encourage that as well. But in the case of Bock and his Tea Party-inspired slate, their real platforms are not visible on their websites. They are taking their cues from Big Money-backed national extremist groups, such as Americans for Prosperity and the John Locke Foundation, as well as from Tea Party gurus like Glenn Beck.
The Chatham Coalition has documented this in detail in our latest newsletter, which you can read online at http://www.chathamcoalition.org/NL2_2010.html. See for yourself how Bock and his key supporters Heather Johnson, Randy Dye and Donna Kelly are bringing extremist positions into local Chatham County political races.
If Bock and company win a majority on the County Board of Commissioners, extremism will run our county government.
We are documenting these connections so voters will be informed about where candidate’s platforms are coming from and because we believe Chatham policies should be arrived at through applying local values to Chatham-specific conditions and problems after listening to local residents, not by applying pre-determined answers provided by outside extremist ideologues.
