Subject: Republican Candidates Forum
Just want to offer an update on the Chatham County Republican Party Candidates Forum held last night.
It was a very positive, open forum, with an amicable discussion of what each candidate is bringing to the community. Attendance by Party members and candidates was high, every candidate attended with the exception of Walter Petty, who was on a mission trip to Haiti (he sent a surrogate). What is clear from this meeting is that Republican Party candidates have been listening to the citizens and are responding to their concerns. The primary concerns of the citizens are most often related to economic development, spending, or education.
Though there were obvious differences between the Republican candidates, it was clear that the Party is united on the topics that are of vital importance in this election cycle.
Not just Republicans attended the forum and this reflects how critical this May 4th election is and how concerned that Chatham citizens are about it. We were pleased to see that Unaffiliated voters and several Democratic elected officials were in the audience. Brian Bock acknowledged our current commissioners during his remarks and their dedication to our community was applauded by forum attendees.
Now we look forward to Early Voting that begins this Thursday the 15th! I will be working the polls for Brian Bock and Walter Petty and also will be distributing Conservative Judges info. We have a great team of volunteers who will be at all three locations and if you would like to join this effort – even if you can just give an hour or two – please email me at . It’s not too late to be a part of this important election!
