Subject: 2010-2011 Student Transfer Forms Available Online and at Schools
Parents/Guardians of students requesting a transfer assignment are required to annually complete and submit a Chatham County Schools Transfer/Release form for each child in order for the transfer assignment to be considered. This annual assignment request is reviewed by the Board of Education with regards to the following criteria:
.. The school requested has sufficient population space for the student assignment;
.. The student has maintained an acceptable record of attendance; and,
.. The student has maintained an acceptable record of behavior.
Parents/Guardians wishing to transfer a child to a school outside his/her regular attendance area must complete a Transfer Request form and submit it before the deadline.
1. New, which are first time requests and are due no later than June 30, 2010.
2. Renewal, which are those requests previously approved, and wishing continued enrollment outside his/her regular attendance area. These forms are due no later than May 31, 2010. Renewals will not be guaranteed after that date.
3. Employee, which are those requests from Chatham County School Employees. These requests are due no later than April 30, 2010.
Chatham County residents wishing to transfer their child(ren) to another public school system, while residing in Chatham County, must complete a Release Form in order to obtain a release from the Chatham County School system.

Parents/Guardians may pick up a Transfer/Release Form from the school serving the attendance area of their residence, by contacting the Chatham County Schools central office in Pittsboro, or downloading the pdf form on the Transfers and School Assignment webpage. This request must be submitted to Bobby Dixon for review. A decision will be rendered by July 31, 2010. Families will be notified in writing of the Board of Education’s decision regarding the transfer request.
