I agree with Billy Bob’s post about deer hunters’ need to take more does to decrease the overpopulation. But one thing I read about in several places recently (maybe even here) that he didn’t mention, is that the deer species here is being weakened because the biggest, strongest, healthiest bucks are being slaughtered, allowing the inferior males of the secies to be the breeders.
If nature were allowed to take her course, the inferior males would be fought out of the game by the better bucks. Over the generations, the deer will deteriorate and be more prone to sickness and deformities.
Since i don’t hunt at all, is there a local source where deer meat can be purchased?
