Subject: Regarding the Pittsboro Police

I too have had an experience with Officer B.Hadley, i was driving the the speed limit on 64 thru town and suddenly someone started riding my back end, within 15 ft or so.

Unable to see that this was a police officer seeing this was late afternoon and his lights were blinding me, I slightly sped up about 5mph and put on my right turn signal so i could pull over to the side and let this maniac pass to avoid this car from rear ending me. Upon speeding up slightly for my own safety and that of my 2 yr old daughter who was in the back car seat asleep at the time, he flipped on his siren lights.

I had been driving home from bringing my daughter to village pediatrics since she was extremely ill at the time and i was treated in very much the same manner. I explained to Officer Hadley calmly and politely why i had sped up and that i did not know why he was following me so closely. He then proceeded to shine his flashlight inside my car for a good period of
time waking up my daughter even after i told him to feel free to look around my car with the flashlight just please dont shine it on my daughter which he ignored. He then proceeded to ask me if i had  any illegal drugs or weapons in my car in my car. I was simply flabergasted with him saying this, i have a very new car in very nice condition and happened to be wearing my work khakis and button up shirt from work. I felt that since he saw i was 23 on my license he was profiling me as some sort of pittsboro hooligan, I found the way he acted was extremely out of line.

He asked to search the vehicle, which i’ll admit was a bit dirty at the time, some dry cleaning piled in the back and some empty fast food bags i had yet to clear out. I refused and then he threatened to bring out an officer with a drug dog, i was still amazed at how this officer was treating a young father driving home his sick daughter. I told him to go ahead but that i knew my rights and didnt need him disturbing my daughter anymore than he already had. I wanted her first experience with police to be a positive one so that when she grows up she would know to trust them and go to them for help. Well apparently i called his bluff on the drug dog thing and he told me to “get out of here” and headed back to his car. I have dealt with many pittsboro police officers on numerous occassion’s and always found them to respectful, courteous and most of all very professional. Officer Hadley was not.
