I just took this survey and I would like to encourage as many people as possible to do the same. It only took me about 4-5 minutes. If our voices can be heard, and enough people put in their two cents, maybe, just maybe, our sweet county will grow properly. Seems to me it can’t hurt.

This is a copy of an e-mail I received from Chamber of Commerce. The link is provided.

PITTSBORO – Chatham County has produced a survey to give residents a chance to speak out on important current issues, their priorities for the future, and customer service experiences.

The results of the survey will be shared with the Board of Commissioners and county management to identify needed improvements and to plan for the future. We make them available to the public as well by publishing the results on the county website (www.chathamnc.org) before January 16,? said County Manager Charlie Horne.

It?s the first time that Chatham County has done a public survey that focuses on broad issues and challenges as well as customer service experiences,? he added. ?The Board of County Commissioners is eager to hear from residents all across the county,? said George Lucier.

We know that each resident has a valuable perspective and we look forward to seeing the final results. We will take the findings into consideration as we develop plans for the future.?Given the tight budget constraints, the county opted to use its own in-house survey abilities. ?We recognize that we will have to work harder to get input from a diverse group of residents, but we have several strategies in place to reach people who may not have internet access or who often don?t have a chance to provide input,? Horne said.Henzey said that survey responses, including printed copies and website responses, are completely anonymous. Residents have until Monday,Dec. 15, 2008, to submit their survey.

There are several ways to access the survey: ONLINE: The survey can be completed and submitted online at: www.chathamnc.org. Look for the ?Quick Links? box in the upper right of the homepage. The first choice in the drop-down menu is the 2008 Community Survey. Or you can go directly to it with this link:

?This is the fastest and easiest option for residents. The results are automatically compiled and are not subject to the potential human error that can happen when keying in answers from hand-written surveys,? said Debra Henzey, director of Community Relations.
