I’m no expert but….
I’ve been building rainwater collection stands out of cedar for piedmont biofuels. They have access to large containers for collection. I have seen a house on the pittsboro moncure rode selling rain barrels, not sure how much, and lowes sells them for about $100.
I see no point for wheels since you will most likely not be able to wheel a barrel of water for far.
if using sequential barrels I would place one slightly higher than the next.
plastic is fine if the previous contents have been cleaned out. stay away from toxic barrels trash cans are fine if all things are level and plum.
be mindful of mosquito heavens. and you can find lots and lots of info by googling rain barrels.
good luck
