I had a similar experience with PBO Chevy. I pass there often and had noticed a car I was considering. I stopped there last week to get the price as their website does not list the prices of the cars. I was met on the lot by a salesman who did not know the price of the car, he asked his manager, came back out to the lot and said his manager was in the middle of a deal with another customer and he could not get the price right now.
Even though I had stopped in for the price only I went for a quick test drive then returned to the lot. I went in the dealership to “get the price of the car” from the manager. After giving my contact information, refusing to “commit”, to a particular price on the car if they “could get me in that car for the right price today” I spoke to the manager.
The manager asked me what I thought the car was worth per my research. I told him what I thought. After a short conversation with him about type of car and price range I wanted he said that he would do some research to find a car for me because he wanted to keep my business. He said he would call me that evening, that was 6 days ago and I have not heard from him.
Since I am in the market for a car I would not mind if I received a call about an available car from a car salesman.
By the way I never did get the price of the car.
I have since done much research on-line for a car. I have not encountered another website that does not list the car prices. The manager at PBO Chevy said they don’t list the prices so they can get you in the dealership.
It worked on me, they got me in the dealership.
They just didn’t know what to do with me once they got me. I am personally familiar with the car sale “routine”, it doesn’t matter how. What I witnessed at PBO Chevy was a lot of talk and no action. I guess the owner is making enough money that he doesn’t care how the place is running.
I won’t go back there.
