http://www.scribblepad.co.uk/images/3662.jpgIt’s called Anthropomorphism n. Attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena.

The animals being sent for slaughter have NO IDEA what is going on. You know what is going on, so you assume they do. They do not, I promise. They would act just as scared if they were simply being shipped to another farm. I know this…I grew up on a small farm where we took our animals to the slaughter house. They became scared the minute we took them out of their pen (or at least we think they were scared…maybe just alarmed?). They have no idea what is going on. How could they? They are ANIMALS.

I am an animal lover, but I am also logical and down to earth. I know that they do not “feel” or “act” like we are imagining them. When you put human behaviors or characteristics on animals it’s called anthropomorphism. People do it all the time. We have dogs and cats and love them as if they were our
children. But, we have also put our dogs thru formal, rigorous training so they will behave as we want them to. That’s what you have to do to ANIMALS.

Most of the animals we eat were born and bred in cages for generations…they do not know what the “outside” world is like. They do not “dream” of running thru an open pasture in the sunlight (that’s what you
think they want) …they have no idea what that is, and, if they were let loose in one, they would probably freak out. I’m not trying to be mean…but these are not people or intelligent people we are talking about, they are ANIMALS. I know it sounds harsh, but those are the facts as I see them.

Vegans…eat your veggies and enjoy it. The rest of us? Eat your meat and enjoy it.

Just my two cents on what’s being going back and forth on the Chatlist right now!
