Hi all,

Triangle Transit has slated a bus route to run between Pittsboro and Chapel Hill to begin during 2011. The timing would be sooner, but it all depends on (gasp! surprise!) the funding agreement. Since Chatham is outside the area funded by Orange, Wake and Durham counties, 67% of the funding will need to be raised from municipal sources.

However, there is a case to be made for additional regional assistance. A portion of northeast Chatham falls within the Durham/Chapel Hill/Carrboro Municipal Planning Organization (DCHC MPO). This group is one of the groups that supports Triangle Transit. So it is a shaky and thin branch, but it’s there. Below my email to you today is the official invite to look at the 5-year plan. And thanks to all who signed our transit survey. You still can do so at: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/PCH/index.html

And one more thing: Visit www.SharetheRideNC.com at http://www.sharetheridenc.com/to see if there
is a carpool or vanpool match for you or to declare your interest in initiating same. You will get plenty of assistance.

Best,

Claire Kane
