Subject: It’s our Anniversary!

Hello Everyone,

Another month has gone by and believe it or not we are celebrating our one year anniversary this month! I can’t believe it has been a full year.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL
The school year is winding down. The kids are working on the Haw River Mural across the street from the General Store. They have been working so hard on their renditions of local wildlife. Pretty soon you will see the turtles, eagles, caterpillars and lizards that the kids at ONS drew, come to life and be forever (at least for a few years) captured in downtown Pittsboro.

The kids will be competing at NC State at the Jr. Solar Sprint program on the 17th of May and will be racing the solar model car that they have worked so hard to build these past few months. I’m really proud of what has come out of our classroom this year.

If you would like to give your child a private school education for less than $500/over 10 months, give us a call or check out our website at http://www.ourneighborhoodschool.com/ for details. Remember ONS does not charge for before or after school care. You can drop your child off as early as 7:00 a.m. and pick them up as late as 7:00 p.m. and there are no additional charges.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL SUMMER CAMP
Summer camps slots are filling up. We are so excited about what we are offering to this fabulous community.
For $120 or $133 per week and a one time $25 registration fee you can sign your child up for any of the following camps:

Build and Race a Solar Model Car
Build a Tree Fort
Swim – all Week
Literature and Art – Read a classic story and complete art project revolving around the story.
Drama – From start to finish, build the set, study your lines, and perform on Friday.
Times Tables the Fun Way – Whether an up and coming 3rd grader or a 4th grader we will learn the multiplication tables with games, races, and stories.
Photography – Make a pinhole viewer, learn what makes a good photograph, learn how to photograph that “decisive moment” and much more

We are also looking for kids 13+ who would like to volunteer at our camps as teacher assistants.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL PIZZERIA
The Menu has some new items, one of which I am very excited about. I have been making this particular dish that I am calling “Chicken Bianco” for many years. I don’t know if it has a real name. It is one of the dishes that enticed my son to call from college to asked me to walk him through the recipe. It is a chicken breast dipped in egg and sauteed with sherry and heavy cream. It is creamy and slightly sweet. No cheese in this recipe, but you will be hooked if you give it a try.

We made the Linguine with Garlic Sauce way back last May and June so I am giving all those newbies out there a chance to try this great meal on Tuesdays. You can get it with or without chicken and we can tweak it for the vegetarians out there.

I am hoping that by June we will have some eggplant and I will be making Eggplant Parmesan all summer until the local eggplant runs out. I may even put it on the regular every day menu.

I made tiramisu this week and you know I only get around to making it about once a month, so stop by and be sure to ask for a piece of this yummy, pick-me-up dessert.

We have been jumping into the catering pool this past year. Small groups of 20+ to large groups of 100 or more. I even have a gig at the end of the month for 300!!! It will be a challenge, but I am so excited and know we will do well.

As you may have heard the prices of wheat are rising. One year ago I paid $11 for my pizza flour and $17 for my pasta flour. Now I am paying $25 for pizza flour and $46 for pasta flour. My dinner prices have gone up because of this. I appreciate your understanding.

All this month we are offering a free mini-cannoli with every large meal ordered as a thank you and an anniversary special.

Peace and God Bless,
Donna Bianco
