Subject: Brewery and hopefully more to come
Hi Chatlisteners,
I had an interesting night at the Carolina Brewery. Interesting in that I enjoyed seeing something totally new in Pittsboro. Food was good, service slow, but, it’s new and all of us are slow when starting something new. I really enjoyed looking at the art around the wall. We actually met up with Corky and Linda sitting next to the beautiful portrait of their house on main street. It was a kodak moment, but didn’t have a camera! Also enjoyed watching the staff walking up those stairs and carrying those trays, hoping they wouldn’t fall.
All of my family are life long “Chathamites” and hope there will be many generations to come. I like the brewery and I hope it is the beginning of lots of other new stuff coming to town. I like the Pittsboro Place idea also. A movie theater, a bowling alley and hopefully some shopping stores and please, no more real estate, lawyer, insurance and antique businesses. I love antiques, may need a lawyer and may even need a real estate person and most definitely need insurance, but I also like to shop in specialty stores for craft items, gift items, sewing/material, etc., children’s clothing, men’s and women’s clothing shops, and let’s not forget to have not only clothing for the model skinny folks, but the pleasingly plump folks as well (men and women).
When the “SAS” fellow takes over his many acres between Moncure road and Hwy 64, and he will, we need to be ready for all those new folks, who will, most probably, not be Chathamites and welcome them and their money, and let them spend it in Pittsboro. We really can’t fight it, so we need to try to get along and have something that, as we all get older, we can go to and not have to spend our time and money in another county. Build the schools, and build the homes for all these new folks. I knew most all the folks who lost their homes to Jordan Lake and it was hard for those folks to lose their generations of family farms to a lake. And they had to lose their homes and overcome many heartaches, so what is so wrong with more new things to have to overcome. It is just a cycle! Always has been and always will be!
I feel that the folks who are moving into the Pittsboro area because of the quaintness, those people will still shop at all the little quaint shops in and around town, and so will all the rest of us who shop those stores now. So lets just get this new place built, so when I can’t drive out of town, just maybe, I can still drive up Hwy 64 and enjoy a movie and window shopping new places of interest and if I need some buttons or thread, I can find it. Let’s face it, we are all going to get old if we live long enough!! I too, like our quaint town of Pittsboro, but guess what? It is not the same quaint little Pittsboro as it was when I grew up and knew most everyone I met, so all of you who don’t want growth, just remember the place you moved here from,to get out of the city, you will most probably feel the same as I do, I wish we still had our quaint little town of Pittsboro, when all the people we meet, we will know.
Yes, I have heard and read all the pros and cons of growth, all the complaints and back and forth nonsense, but can we stop growth? No we can’t, just as the quaint little town of Pittsboro was for so many of us for so long, before so many new folks came in, we loved it then and we still love it and always will, because it is Pittsboro and it is our home town.
Excuse me, if I repeat myself, but I have read a lot of that from a lot of folks on the chatlist.
