I see the Dell Webb community construction, near the intersection of Route 15 and Pittsboro/Moncure Rd, is underway. The publicity for this development stated that the majority of the units will be for older residents. I’m wondering what this means. Will they be built with specific special needs in mind? Most importantly, how will this age makeup be managed? What is to prevent any age group from buying into the community? I’m not at all big on rules and regulations, but if the Pittsboro zoning rules don’t state this specifically then I’m not sure how this will be “enforced” (I don’t like that word but couldn’t think of another).
I would also like to ask a general question about development in the County and Pittsboro. Do more homes benefit any residents? I’d like to hear from anyone (politely) who can give me their take on how this can be so. On the one hand Realtors and insurance companies obviously stand to gain from new customers, which does nothing for existing residents. On the other hand I understand small businesses are likely to get a boost, which is something I can’t argue with. But getting to those businesses will be much more of a challenge. By way of sarcasm, I often refer to the town I’ve enjoyed as Fort Pittsboro, since all the developments serve to clog up roads leading to town.
