Anonymity and environment

All the talk of anonymous posts diverts attention from the horrors CPI (No men’s names there) is inflicting on the forests near the Haw, or the horrors of the land DOT (no names there unless you dig for them) is taking from our parks system and local residents for Vinfast. Muddy waters poorly regulated because of the status of the car company  governance falling between state and other agencies. No one complained about DOT or CPI’s anonymity destroying our county’s treasures.

In a time when reduction of fossil fuel carbonization is critical to keep from reaching climate catastrophe with a warming planet, several on Pittsboro’s BOC allowed tree canopy reduction for CPI’s profits. The forests provided habitat for woodland creatures, provided carbon sequestration and oxygen. We speak of protecting natural resources instead of Mother Earth because to speak of tree spirits and living waters is too “woo woo” to present to a governing board. We speak of our shared common good that nature provides like fresh air and clean drinking water and some yell “socialists!” This labeling diverts attention from how much damage the developers are doing. More examples exist like trying to get Northwood High School’s cross country track deforested and ramming CPI’s parkway through a long time community–destroying the peace of living on the land in harmony with the natural world.

Posts about anonymity are red herrings diverting attention from meaningful dialogue about the need for more, not less, trees, more protection of streams and rivers. The climate crisis is real, and some members of our Pittsboro town board are deaf to the voice of scientists and experts saying protect our trees and watershed before it’s too late. Nobody called out DOT or CPI as anonymous — and when would they sit down for an honest talk about seriously protecting our environment?
