Go see the new mural at George Moses Horton Middle school

On  Saturday June 17th I had the extreme pleasure of being present at the public unveiling of a superb mural on an outside wall of the George Moses Horton Middle School, here in Pittsboro.  It depicts important people, buildings and events in the Black community of Chatham county, over the last 100+ years.  The artist is David Wilson, from Durham, a wonderful artist and art teacher,  He attended the event, explaining various elements of his marvelous work.  The mural is mounted on the outside rear wall of the school, just across from the new Boys and Girls Club.  QR codes below the mural explain various parts of  the mural.    It is very easy to access from Sanford Rd., Rt. 15/501 South.  Just drive around to the rear of the main school building. The mural was commissioned by The Community Coalition for Reconciliation of Chatham (“CRC-C”).  Many many individuals have been involved for several years in bringing this wonderful project to fruition.  Don’t miss seeing it!!
