Chatham Internet Discussion Meetings on January 12 & 19

The internet is one of the top issues in Chatham County.   If you happen to live in a certain area, you have no problems.  If you live in another area, you have no internet at all.   It seems we are in general agreement that the internet is a necessity or at least nearly so.  The internet can be a literal lifeline for isolated seniors, a necessity for work, and an imperative for young adults seeking to learn and get decent jobs.    And, it isn’t just about whether or not you have internet in your area, but also the ability to afford it and afford a computer to run it, and also the know-how to use it.

Chatham County is creating a Digital Inclusion Plan for submission to the State which will allow us to seek Federal funding.  We have a draft based on what we believe is the current situation and the current programs that are available.

If this interests you, you may want to attend one of the two free, public meetings.   We will use these meetings to get public input on these issues and to share some of what we have learned.
