Kudos to whomever put together Sunday’s first Chatham County Beer Festival in the west end of the parking lot of the old Piggly Wiggly. It was a family- and dog-friendly event, with good music, lots of brew vendors, food-truck options, and reasonably priced. Maybe that’s a blueprint for other similar events: Don’t worry about closing streets, incurring policing costs, etc., if it’s too much for public authorities to do. Find venues with enough private parking lots or other land to host an event.
