Post from Mr. Sedlak read more like a chastisement than a positive endorsement

Unfortunately, this post from Mr. Sedlak read more like a chastisement than a positive endorsement.  I hope it was truly meant as the latter — a true “Shout out”.

The employees of the store had no way of knowing Mr. Sedlak had actually maintained his sanitation as he said.  Anyone can and does say whatever they want in order to get by.  Why he couldn’t simply re-sanitize his hands and carry on with his shopping is beyond me.

Sure virus traces could have been picked up and transferred within the store — let’s not add to those traces.  These employees are going above and beyond to maintain a safe environment for themselves and their customers.  Few people truly understand the work these volunteers put in to support their cause:  supporting survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault in Chatham County.  Sanitizing helps eliminate a new source of contamination.  Many of the employees and customers are elderly, they have children and grandchildren with whom they associate and want to also protect.  This simple act of hand sanitizing may well provide protection and certainly offers a level of comfort for everyone involved.

So yes,  Second Bloom employees do deserve a true “Shout Out”.

Full disclosure:  my wife in one of the Second Bloom “employee” volunteers.  All “employees” are volunteers.  And yes, I do have great concern for her contact with so many people outside our family over whom we have so little ability to ensure they will take the precautions that we hope they will.

There is a Moral sense, and there is an Immoral Sense. History shows us that the Moral Sense enables us to perceive morality and how to avoid it, and that the Immoral Sense enables us to perceive immorality and how to enjoy it. —Pudd’nhead Wilson’s New Calendar.  (Mark Twain)
