Bamboo planted at ‘the odd company’ pittsboro

Gracious! What on earth were they thinking? Planting invasive Bamboo within yards of a foundation. The foundation of a recently Re-located all metal house- a pittsboro landmark? If you think bamboo Is controllable and a good idea, take a look at the bamboo ‘jungles’ Behind the funeral home and the old library in pittsboro. Some of those Stalks are so big and thick, they just can’t be whacked down.

Another thing-  at ‘odd company’ there are two gravel parking lots and a driveway- within 3 years, bamboo will be sprouting up in them and will be impossible To dig out and control.

Soon it will be a jungle out there. Poo poo it if you want, just wait and see!

  1. Incorrect, it’s in containers. Come visit and see, 684 West Street.

  2. How wonderful that you’ve found such a compelling issue to address within your community! How blessed is your community that homelessness, hunger, healthcare deficits, COVID-related economic impact, etc. have already been addressed so you have time to worry about a little bamboo in some pots near a relatively new business. A business, I might add, that supports community causes, promotes creativity, acceptance, joy, and peace in a world that is experiencing widespread grief and fear. But, please, focus on bamboo–IT MATTERS. Maybe next time, have someone proofread your post for you. You’re far more likely to have in impact if people aren’t trying to read past your poor spelling, grammar, and rhetoric. Or, you could reach out and find real issues to support and lend a hand.

  3. Actually, Oddco’s bamboo are growing in large enclosed planters that they set out in their beautiful garden and on their new patio. The owners of oddco are kind, intelligent, and environmentally conscious people. Among many other wonderful things, Oddco recently began holding an open pantry for people in need. It is disappointing that this article has failed to mention the many excellent ways that oddco has been involved with their community, and would rather slander them over some potted bamboo.

  4. Hi! Big fan of OddCo. here. The bamboo is planted in isolated boxes. This is a bizarre post, to be honest- in a time when we should be supporting local businesses more than ever and singing their praises. OddCo is community. They have made me feel so welcome. They support tons of local artists and contribute to the landscape of Pittsboro in a beautiful way. Im so grateful to have this space to share with my friends and get inspired. We need OddCo. I hope you stop by and check out all the work they’ve been doing, the planter boxes that contain this beastly plant, and support a local family owned small business in the process. What were you thinking?

  5. Are you out if your mind “Karen”? I went over there to look at it this blemish on the town… and it’s in ceramic pottery on top of raised stands. The question is what were you thinking posting this BS…slow news day in Pittsboro I guess?

  6. Omg, bamboo in a pot…horrendous!!! How can anyone in their right mind want to imprison a plant!!!! Set them free!!! Free the Bamboo, FTB is my call to freedom…we need flags and signs and lots of people protesting this incarceration…Let the bamboo go, it has rights too. In fact, let all the plants go…Freedom for all plants!!!
