I read the last post from GOP activist Bill Crawford with interest.
From my understanding the tax paying residents of District 1, Karen Howard, actually pay more to Chatham County in taxes every year than the combined total for the western districts of 4 and 5.
I believe even District 2 around Pittsboro, which is represented by Mike Dasher, pays more than 4 and 5 combined.
This means that the excess from my taxes are actually helping the citizens in the middle to western part of our county and not the other way around.
And I am fine with my tax dollars supporting a park and a nice pool in Siler City.
This is an example of our community working together for common goals..
Why was he the only one who signed up for the job?
Now a young Hispanic man, who serves on the County Planning Board and was educated in Chatham County schools, is stepping up to become the youngest member of the BOC as well as its first Hispanic member.
This is important.
He will bring youth, energy, an education from the Planning Board and a connection to a vastly under served constituency of our county. What is wrong with that?
As for the embedded dog whistle message from Mr. Crawford, we all know that the intended recipients will nod in agreement and act accordingly while the rest of us recognize it for what it really is.
Of course this is what I would expect during the same week that the two largest contributors to the Chatham County Republican Party during the last cycle, Greg Lindberg and John Gray, were convicted and sentenced to federal prison for attempting to bribe the incumbent Republican insurance commissioner.
