Can you put together $100? We Rotarians in Siler City are going to sell200 tickets at $100 each for 3 prizes; $5000, $2000, and $500. If you win, you still have a bigger problem of who to give the money to, or you can let it ride with Rotary support of Boys and Girls Club, Food Bank, Community Pharmacy, scholarships for local high school students, or any of the many other Rotary projects in our community.
How do you win those prizes??
The Surry Sunrise Rotary Club, on Sept 19th. or the first good weather day after the 19th, is going to take 200 homing pigeons to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and release them! Each bird has its own RFID chip and flies back to its own home cage where the time of its arrival is electronically recorded. The distance to the Speedway is already known, and the speed of the bird is calculated. Each bird’s number corresponds to YOUR ticket number, and the FASTEST BIRD WINS!
Brad, you may simply email back to me as to how many tickets you want and I will see that you have them. I have committed to 10 tickets. Mark Zeringue is in the process of having them printed up. You tell me how you want to convey your money to me, e.g. check made payable to Siler City Rotary Club. I will plan to mail your tickets to you, if you have a useful mailing address and will tell what it is, Or I will hold them for you with your name on them and mail you your winnings. Otherwise, we can devise a rendezvous. Same for delivering your prize money. Were it not for COVID we would surely meet at Virlie’s or City Tap and make the exchange!
This is going to be fun! Exciting to me that Surry Sunrise put together such a unique race for the prize.
