Hope we did not exchange SARS-CoV-2

Was awake until 3 last night, so I was sleeping soundly when i heard the heavy rumble of a heavy truck engine outside my bathroom window about 9 AM. The right knee hurt as I struggle to look out to see the gravel truck, so I grabbed my cane as I pulled on my bathrobe and slippers sans glasses. Went right past my mask by the front door as I ventured to see who this was.

Charles Lutterloh climbed out of the truck and stode toward me, also sans mask and I told him I did not have my glasses so he introduced himself as we shook hand without a COVID in the world. Our care was his load of gravel I had told his Dad we WOULD need and had asked if a 2-3 day advance call was enough when we were ready. Actually the garage site next to the house is rather level anyway, but some racks and storage tubs were in the way by the house, so he offered to find another destination for the gravel today and we parted, still not a Covid in the world for either or us. I was marching back into the house, still mentally juggling the tornado shelter also on order and the garage and the gravel and mentally unearthing the remainder of my old asphalt driveway when habit finally gave way to the “new reality” and I washed my hands. I can only imagine that my stage of sleep had not sufficiently turned to wake; as serious as I have been about avoiding any possible exposure to COVID19 for myself or Nancy, this greeting and conversation were as much of the preceding 80 years as any. There was no intrusion of the SARS-CoV-2.

Please, all of you, stay aware; wear your mask out; keep at least 6 feet distance, and wash your hands rather than shaking hands. Charles, I hope we did not exchange SARS-CoV-2, giving the little stinker a new home in a naive airway.
