Corona Virus School Bus Service Retask
Suggested use of school buses and feeding the needy students

To our Leaders: During this time our schools are closed, the buses will sit idle, our bus drivers will find other work, our school kitchens may be open, but children or parents will have to get there. There will be billions thrown at these problems, regarding school, food and security of jobs and child-care.I would suggest we keep our bus drivers and the current bus routes (with some additions because the children whose parents drove them to school will now be on the bus route) we keep our current drivers. We keep a twice a day route. The difference is the am bus drops off breakfast and (for students without access to a computer and internet) student/teacher envelopes and the mid-day, pm route drops off lunches and picks up the work from the students. (Use large freezer bags for work)This keeps the knowledgeable drivers working and helping the children, the kitchen staff at school may need to shift some hours, but they will still be working, and the teachers stay in touch with kids. They are at their class and prepare the lessons. Life goes own. When this pandemic runs it vicious and unknown course, we’ll have our experienced drivers still with the buses and kitchen staff with us. Plus, the kids get fed and educated.Otherwise, we will run around in circles trying to do exactly what I am suggesting.233 words Submitted by:
