Subject: Hoarding
Hi.
I have a solemn request to make of all my Chatham County neighbors and anybody else who reads Chatlist.
If you are hoarding, please stop. If you are not hoarding, please don’t start. When you hoard, you are potentially depriving others, some of them babies and young children, of items they need to sustain life, and that is just wrong. I believe we have a responsibility to our fellow human beings to help them. And if you don’t want to help them, then I would ask you to at least not harm them.
There will be enough food to go around. There will be enough toilet paper. There will be enough, period. If you have to be quarantined, you have neighbors who will bring you food, or toilet paper, or whatever you need. If worse comes to worst and everybody is required to shelter in place, there will be a plan to provide everybody with necessities. Our brave soldiers and National Guard members and maybe others I can’t think of will make that happen.
We are all in this together. We need to act like it. Please.
