The average law enforcement response time near Siler or Pittsboro is about 10 minutes plus or minus . Out here in the county it can be as much as 30 minutes after you call 911 when your home is being broken into . A 1911 colt will deliver a shot at about 600ft per second . With this in mind your welcome to be defenseless in your own home and wait on the law to arrive but its a proven fact criminals commit less crime after being shot . If you concerned about walking down the street and getting shot you must also consider criminals do not obey they law . If you take every gun from every law abiding gun owner you will stand a greater chance of being shot as only criminals will have guns .
If you are so foolish to believe that removing guns from the public will stop criminals from owning guns look at Chicago , 95% of the people shot are shot with illegally obtained firearms . Other than drugs and human trafficking smuggling guns and firearms across the border is one of the top criminal activities and why we need a border wall .. Its big business as criminals who cant buy them legally will get them illegally . I personally am to old to fight or flee so if someone breaks in my home in the middle of the night they will get shot before I dial 911 . Any irrational fear of legal gun owners and guns is misdirected . You should be more concerned at the lack of mental health care in this country .. Only a mentally ill person will go on a shooting spree . No stable human will randomly kill anyone . Taking a gun from a mentally ill person seams logical but unless you treat their illness they will find another gun or use a vehicle or other convenient implement to get the deed done . Its also a fact red flag laws are very often abused to disarm legal gun owners and leave them defenseless . I’m not attacking you , I’m just making a point that blaming the firearm for the crime is like blaming Mc Donalds because your fat . If you take all fast food joints away , people will still find a way to get fat . Its my opinion , I wish you peace . GM
