“It won’t be noticed”

Tarus Balog says a minimum wage worker won’t notice paying an additional $38 in taxes.  Since he created this hypothetical, let me add to it by saying the worker is a single mom. Do you know what $38 could mean to her? It could mean:

A special night out for pizza because her daughter got straight A’s at school or a visit to see the latest Disney movie because her daughter loves Disney
It could mean being able to go see the Durham Bulls
It could be a new winter jacket or new shoes or outfits for the 1st day of school
It could fill her gas tank, or pay for an oil change
It could be an extra birthday or Christmas present.
It could be a candy bar treat every week

It could mean a lot of things to her and you shouldn’t judge that she won’t notice it! Seems like you are out of touch much like Nancy Pelosi was when she called $1000 bonuses “crumbs”.
Only liberal democrats think it makes sense to take money from the poor to help them out.  Yes you will argue that she will get back more in assistance than the extra $38 she will pay but guess what, not everyone’s goal and dream is to live on government assistance.

Oh and you know what else. If doing math with a 7% sales tax rate is easier than 6.75% I will tell you what is even easier – a 5% tax rate so let’s start cutting.
